Masterson’s Tavern , situated in the center of Moonee Ponds , advertises itself as a stylish, alternative venue , but my unfortunate encounter at this establishment turned into one of the worst experiences of my life . While the bar may appear inviting from the outside , what I experienced behind its entrance was disgraceful and unfit for any venue.

From the moment I crossed the threshold, it was clear that upkeep was not a priority at this establishment . The floors were sticky , and a pungent odor of old alcohol and filthy restrooms suffused the entire venue . Smelling a mixture of urine , old age and sour vomit . The bar area , which should be the primary feature of any pub, was littered with unwashed glassware and refuse that looked like it had been ignored for a long time . The bathroom was in even more deplorable shape — spilling over , with a broken handle and walls stained in what I can only assume was fecal matter .

After reading through multiple accounts and speaking with locals , it seems that the quality of upkeep (or lack thereof) at this pub is a long-standing issue .
